Artisan Colour is excited to introduce Tom Benedict, the new Director of Business Development for the modern printing company. From extensive experience in graphic arts to nearly 30 years in digital to print sales and management, Tom’s background and passion for all things colour help him fit right in with the Artisans.

Graphic Arts Evolution

Tom Benedict Brings Direct to Print Expertise to Artisan Colour

Tom has always been drawn to color, specifically the impact it has on human psychology and purchasing behavior. He’s also intrigued by the process. “I have a deep passion for the industry I chose,” says Tom. “To this day the idea that four-process colors create virtually ALL colors still amazes me!” And getting to play with color all day is one of the things he likes best about his work.

Tom’s graphics arts and colour career began at the Meredith Corporation, where he held several sales leadership positions including Western Regional Vice President of Sales for American Signature and RRD/LSC. His career journey then took him to the Banta Corporation, Quebecor, and Arandell Corporation.

To satisfy his creative side, he also co-founded Adronitis Marketing Group, an agency that provides digital to print assets for both online and marketing strategies. The agency specializes in bringing together a collaborative of companies to seamlessly deliver multi-faceted plans that deliver results.

The Digital to Print Revolution at Artisan

Artisan could not be happier to inherit Tom’s mix of printing, marketing, and sales savvy.

“Tom’s wealth of knowledge in the print industry and expansive network of relationships adds tremendous depth to our organization,” says Doug Bondon, President and CEO of Artisan Colour. “His passion to create successful partnerships provides Artisan fresh opportunities in attracting new customers seeking innovative print solutions.”

As Director of Business Development, Tom’s objective is to increase Artisan’s visibility among retailers to drive catalog and enterprising multi-channel initiatives. He also plans to provide even greater visibility to the impact Artisan Colour is having on driving profitable ROI solutions for its clients, enticing organizations from industries like education and healthcare to consider the Artisan advantage.

He applied this passion to his previous positions, working with many marquee-named catalog retailers. It is within these relationships that Tom took advantage of the opportunity to learn the true value of the customer experience, and how to continue sustainable lifetime value customers for the retailers.

“At the heart of all business is finding the next customer and data is the answer.”
– Tom Benedict, Director of Business Development

Printing Trends Toward Quality, and Artisan is Raising the Bar

Tom chose to join the Artisan Colour team because of the craftsmanship that the organization brings to the marketplace. He sees Artisan as a Renaissance organization among a sea of similar, yet more churn-and-burn-style companies. His primary short-term goal at Artisan is to help inject quality back into the marketplace and industry, pushing the trend of “knockoffs” aside.

Another printing trend that Tom has noticed is the emergence of more channel interaction within digital to print marketing strategies. He saw this driving both online and in-store shopping even before the COVID-19 pandemic, but now it has become essential.

He sees this continuing to develop with an emphasis on how retailers strategize to address the growing number of at-home shoppers who are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And Tom sees Artisan Colour playing a key role in that for customers through variable data printing and catalog services.

His advice to the new Artisan Colour customers he’ll be helping attain: “Own your customer relationship and always be testing. Look for the detail – it’s what creates greatness.”
